Indigenous Prosperity Centre Launches New Website to Support Connection, Opportunity, and Indigenous Economic Growth

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

South Vancouver Island, BC
— The Indigenous Prosperity Centre (IPC), an initiative of the South Island Prosperity Partnership (SIPP), is proud to announce the launch of its new website, a dynamic digital hub designed to support Indigenous economic development, strengthen partnerships, and amplify Indigenous voices across the region.

The new website offers expanded access to resources, initiatives, and stories that reflect the work of IPC and the communities it serves. Visitors can explore content highlighting Indigenous-led economic development, community partnerships, and emerging opportunities across South Vancouver Island.

“This website is about more than sharing information—it is about strengthening relationships and creating space for Indigenous voices, ideas, and opportunities to be seen and supported,” said Tarrin Sam, Acting Executive Director of the Indigenous Prosperity Centre. “We wanted to build something that reflects the work happening across our region while making it easier for communities, partners, and businesses to connect in a good way.”

A central feature of the new platform is the Opportunities Hub, a dedicated space for sharing economic and collaboration opportunities across the region.

The hub is envisioned as a shared space shaped by community and partners, where opportunities such as procurement postings, job openings, calls for collaboration, and speaking engagements can be shared and accessed.

IPC is inviting partners, organizations, and community members to actively contribute to the platform by creating an account and sharing opportunities from within their own work. All postings are reviewed and stewarded by IPC to ensure they align with community priorities and values.

Designed to support meaningful connections, the Opportunities Hub helps link Indigenous talent, entrepreneurs, and organizations with pathways for growth—whether through contracts, employment, or collaborative initiatives.

The site also features an updated Indigenous Business Directory, making it easier to discover and support Indigenous-owned businesses across the region. The directory serves as a tool for both community members and organizations seeking to engage Indigenous businesses in a meaningful and accessible way.

A dedicated Indigenous Voices section creates space for community-driven knowledge, perspectives, and expression. This platform showcases contributions from community members, including research, personal reflections, youth writing, and creative and cultural works. Designed as a community journal and knowledge-sharing space, Indigenous Voices uplifts stories, ideas, and expertise in the voices of those who choose to share them.

Designed with accessibility in mind, the website serves as a shared space for community, business, and government to engage, exchange ideas, and support Indigenous economic development across the region.

The Indigenous Prosperity Centre extends its sincere thanks to Animikii, the Indigenous-owned digital agency that designed and developed the new website. Working closely with IPC, Animikii translated its vision, values, and community focus into a digital experience rooted in accessibility, storytelling, and Indigenous data sovereignty.

“It's been a great joy to work with the Indigenous Prosperity Centre on developing their new website and proud to be part of building a gathering place for Indigenous-led prosperity on Southern Vancouver Island." Said The Animikii Team. "The IPC team put tremendous care into refreshing their content, and it shows. The updated site reflects a new look and feel built around their evolved branding palette, bringing their identity and mission to life in a way that feels both grounded and forward-looking. Through bi-weekly meetings covering content, design, and development our collaborative process ensured every decision was made together and every detail landed in the right place. Working with Tarrin and Anika has been an absolute honour. The work they are doing to uplift, support, and showcase the self-directed economic vision of First Nations and Indigenous Peoples on Southern Vancouver Island is meaningful, necessary, and inspiring. We're grateful to have played a small part in helping bring that vision to life.”

A key feature of the new site is its intentional visual identity, created in collaboration with Indigenous artist Isiah (Paul) Desjarlais.

The artwork woven throughout the website is more than design; it is a reflection of relationships, movement, and shared direction. At the centre, the paddle represents leadership and forward movement. The salmon carries teachings of reciprocity, abundance, and sustainability. The sun face symbolizes renewal and strength, while the waves reflect the waters that connect Nations and communities.

This collaboration extended beyond the website itself. IPC worked with Desjarlais-Paul to evolve its broader visual identity, which will be reflected across its communications, including social media, newsletters, and future materials.

Desjarlais-Paul’s work focuses on visual storytelling through ancestral design, using bold line work and balanced compositions to explore themes of identity, connection, and transformation. Drawing from Coast Salish and other ancestral influences, his work reflects an ongoing journey of learning and cultural reconnection. As he shares, his intention is “to create pieces that invite reflection and carry meaning beyond the image itself,” a vision woven throughout IPC’s visual identity.

The IPC extends its gratitude to Desjarlais-Paul for his thoughtful contribution in bringing this vision to life.

IPC looks forward to seeing how communities and partners engage with and shape the platform over time.
